Hitekani Primary School in Soweto hosted the launch of the Life on Madlala Street radio lessons on 8 February 2022.
The series was adapted from 80 scripted Comprehensive Sexuality Education lessons already used in Life Skills and Life Orientation. The launch described radio as a way to reach learners, parents and caregivers with age-appropriate discussions about health, safety, equality and protection from harm.
By hosting the launch, Hitekani Primary became the starting point for a teaching resource designed to travel far beyond one campus. The format aimed to support conversations at home as well as reinforce work already taking place in classrooms.
