New JS Skenjana school handed to Eastern Cape education

A newly built JS Skenjana Senior Secondary School was formally opened and transferred to the Basic Education sector in the Eastern Cape.

JS Skenjana Senior Secondary School in Idutywa was formally opened and handed over to Basic Education on 28 April 2023.

The government advisory said the school was built through Sibanye-Stillwater’s social and labour plan. The event brought together the mineral resources and education portfolios for the transfer of the completed campus to the provincial school system.

For the JS Skenjana community, the handover marked the shift from a construction project to a functioning public learning environment. The new facilities were intended to support everyday teaching and create a stronger platform for secondary learners in the Mbashe area.
