Learners from two Kimberley schools have completed the Safer South Africa Foundation's Communities and Justice Programme, with a certificate ceremony held at Vuyolwethu High School on 23 July.
The Guardian reported that learners from Vuyolwethu and Floors No. 2 High School, along with educators, parents and partner organisations, attended the event. The programme focuses on positive choices, bullying prevention, substance-abuse awareness, vandalism prevention and responsible citizenship.
The ceremony recognised the learners' completion with certificates, commemorative shirts and goodie bags. The wider lesson is that school safety is not only a policing issue: learners, families, educators and community partners all have a role in building safer school environments.
