The reports describe contaminated areas around the school, disruption to teaching and learning, and sports grounds that learners cannot use normally.
News24 reported that the problem has continued for about 15 years. A follow-up report in The Star described an oversight visit and said municipal officials linked the latest conditions to pre-existing reticulation problems and changes to the school’s internal sewer network, while acknowledging that further repairs are needed.
The municipality said the spillages affect teaching, learning, health and safety, and that a permanent solution requires urgent work on the sewer line carrying effluent from the school.
