Mayibuye Primary School in Midrand was the focus of a formal handover and oversight visit as schools reopened on 17 January 2024.
The Basic Education advisory placed the event at the school’s campus at Theresa Street and Hlungu Street. National and provincial education leaders were scheduled to attend as learners across the country returned for the new academic year.
Opening-day handovers carry an immediate test: buildings, classrooms and school systems must work while teaching begins. For Mayibuye Primary, the event connected new infrastructure with the practical task of welcoming learners and starting the year without delay.
