The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls is preparing to end its current residential-school model after the 2027 academic year. The campus is expected to transfer to the Gauteng education department, while a wider scholarship programme is planned for girls studying at other schools.
The transition is not an immediate closure. Current learners are expected to continue receiving support through the academy’s final school years, and the institution’s broader mission is being reshaped rather than simply switched off.
