The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls has announced a transition plan that will see its Gauteng campus close at the end of 2027. The Associated Press reported that the academy says the site will ultimately be handed to Gauteng's education department.
According to the report, learners currently enrolled will be able to complete their schooling with uninterrupted financial support. The academy's broader support for academically talented South African girls is expected to continue through an expanded scholarship programme.
This is a significant change for families connected to the academy, but it is not an immediate closure. Parents and prospective applicants should rely on direct communication from the school and provincial education department for admission, scholarship and transition details.
