Rhenish Girls’ High teacher wins national science teaching award

Lana Schreuder of Rhenish Girls’ High School won the national award for excellence in teaching Physical Sciences.

Rhenish Girls’ High School in Stellenbosch celebrated a national teaching honour on 9 October 2025 when Lana Schreuder was named the winner for Excellence in Teaching Physical Sciences.

The award formed part of the 25th National Teaching Awards and was one of four top honours received by Western Cape educators. The provincial statement highlighted the winners’ innovation, dedication and classroom impact.

For Rhenish Girls’ High, the recognition drew attention to the craft behind strong science teaching. Effective Physical Sciences classrooms combine clear explanation, careful practical work and the confidence-building needed for learners to tackle demanding problems.
