Setumo Sephethe Primary School in the Bojanala District, North West, received a library during a Mandela Day handover on 18 July. The project was presented by the Kwesto Foundation as part of the department's 2026 Mandela Month programme.
A school library gives learners and teachers a dedicated space for reading, research and independent study. The handover reflects the practical value of partnerships that add learning resources to schools, particularly in communities where access to books and study facilities can be limited.
The Department of Basic Education framed the wider Mandela Month programme around inclusive quality education and action against poverty and inequality. For Setumo Sephethe, the new library adds a lasting resource that can support classroom learning beyond the commemorative event.
