The event, organised by Intouch Youth Development and Community Justice, encouraged learners and community members to engage with environmental protection and the link between clean air and community health. Four trees were planted at Solwazi Primary School during the initiative, serving as a practical reminder that small actions can contribute to sustainable environments for future generations.
Intouch acknowledged the support of Unlimited Peace and Smiles, She Evolves, the Seriti Institute, the City of Johannesburg, and Breathe Cities for assisting with logistics, providing trees, and enabling community engagement. The principal and School Management of Solwazi Primary School were thanked for welcoming the initiative and providing a platform for learners and community members to participate in environmental education.
Intouch highlighted that schools play a vital role in fostering environmental awareness among young people, as early lessons can influence responsible choices within families and communities. The initiative was designed to move beyond discussion by engaging learners in hands-on activities that promoted teamwork, responsibility, and appreciation for their surroundings.
Dr Ronny Kapaso, Founder and Managing Director of Intouch, stated the initiative empowered communities through awareness, education, and action to build a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future. The four planted trees at Solwazi Primary School are intended to stand as a lasting reminder of the shared responsibility to protect the environment and promote cleaner air for future generations.
