Several Western Cape schools received national recognition at the National Education Excellence Awards held on 24 July 2026, according to the Western Cape Education Department.
Westerford High School placed third in the Quintile 5 category for top-performing public ordinary schools. Bloemhof Girls’ High School took second place in the same national performance category, while Vredendal Secondary School placed third in the high-school upkeep and maintenance category.
The awards recognise academic performance and the work schools do to maintain safe, functional learning environments. The provincial department said the results reflected the contribution of principals, teachers, school staff and learners across the province.
